NOVEMBER 2017

Yes, it is Thanksgiving already. Even though the stores have skipped over Halloween and Thanksgiving and gone straight to Christmas.
I did not. I have a couple of pictures I took at the Halloween party in Wilton Manors. You can always count on seeing the best and most original costumes every year. I went as an accountant.

He had lightening in the clouds, blowing leaves and limbs in the dress, buckets of rain and rain falling down.
I ran into my friend Patricia and her friend (sorry, don't remember his name). Jana met Patty at Square Dance.
This was all one costume. The superman skeleton was his walking stick and everything moved with him as he walked. Quite amazing.

The Headless Pumpkin man would be enough to scare children and plenty of adults also.
I liked this a lot. It was lit up inside and moved with her as she walked around.
A lot of work went into creating this masterpiece.

Now Let's jump into our 'way back machine' to the late 70's and early 80's. I was working with Richard Bone and his group BONE, and also one of the original punk, alternative groups, SHOX LUMANIA. With us was a friend, and very talented Merrill Aldighieri. She captured a lot of this work on video and went on to make a career out of it working with many groups.

This month through April MOMA, Museum of Modern Art in New York is featuring an installation of some of her work and others. It was focused on a popular club back then, Club 57. Located in the village on St. Marks Place it was one of the hottest places for new music and technology. Merrill is being honored as being the person to introduce the term and genre of 'VJ' Video Jockey which was later picked up and became the focal point of MTV. These are just a few pictures of the opening of the installation. Congratulations to Merrill on receiving this honor for a life dedicated to new music through the decades.

Merrill was most excited at having famed actor and director John Waters as an attendee.

The line to get into the opening night of the installation
Congratulations to Merrill, Richard and all the artists involved in creating this genre which has become so important to our art and music over the years.

See you next Month...

OCTOBER 2017

I admit it. I have either just been lazy or have no concept of time. Which ever it was. I am just now getting around to posting. The only reason to post now is I don't want to miss a month.
I hope everyone had a great Halloween. Check out November for some great costumes from the Wicked Manors Festival this year.

October is also Birthday month for Linda James.

SEPEMBER 2017

Well September was quite the eventful month for all of Florida.
We had a very unwelcome visitor who over stayed her welcome.

The South Florida Larkins all came through it unscathed. A bit battered but ok. The Larkin Plantation home suffered no damage accept for a lot of leaves in the pool. They did suffer without power for 6 very long days. A generator helped to deliver some of the modern conveniences but not a/c.

They reverted back to the 50's with over the air TV with an antennae.
The town of Plantation did not do as well. There is a down fall to being Tree City USA. These pics are taken in the area around Plantation.

Sliders Place did ok also with some damage from the wind. The neighbors tree dropped a couple of large limbs on my fence and knocked it over. I also lost a few shingles from my roof.
And this happened......
My mailbox must have ended up in a neighbors yard. I found it tucked safely away in my breezeway.

AUGUST 2017

I have been remiss. I almost missed August entirely.  It just passed by so fast.  I have to admit I also have been spending too much time pissing people off on Facebook. Anyway, we had a wonderful, terrific visit from Linda and Jana last month, but everyone had their lives to get back to.  Jana had to get back to school with those rugrats and Linda had to get back to retirin'.
Linda being a flower to audition for the synchronized swimming in the Olympics.
Jana doing her Carmen Miranda imitation
Mango cheesecake I made for Linda. She said she liked it. I don't think she would lie about that.
We are having our office remodeled and it is almost finished. We finally have windows. It always seemed odd that we worked at an idyllic location in Florida and had no windows.

 Looking into my office before
Looking into my office now. The opening is a half wall and door leading into a new office that was not there before. I will take better pics. There is still a lot to do.
I wouldn't think there could be a story behind a mango but, this was the very last of the batch on my tree. The timing worked out great and I was able to furnish Linda with all the mangos she wanted while she was here. I took this pic because it was the very last one and it was two days before she was to  leave. I went out the next morning to pic it and it was GONE.  Could not believe it. Not just fallen off, but gone. The only thing that could have happened is it was taken by a raccoon.
