DECEMBER 2015

We celebrated Thanksgiving this year with Neva and Fuzzy visiting Skray and I at my house. I was very pleased with the dinner even if we were full after the appetizer. The old eyes bigger than the stomach thing.

One of the highlights of the day was skyping with the Hutchinson Kansas James Gang. I promised Jana that I would not use some of the pictures I have of her on the big screen tv. I did have one I could use though. We had a problem with being able to hear them because we were skyping from my computer to her phone. Everyone looks great and were all busy preparing dinner. We got to see Stacy (Chicken), and Jesse's friend Nichole.

I had the good fortune of having two Thanksgiving celebrations this year. Marty and Sunny had their traditional Saturday After Thanksgiving dinner. This year we celebrated with friends from the South Florida Mustangs Square Dancing group. Marty truly outdid himself this year. Not only was there a stuffed turkey and all the trimmings, but also a baked ham. The potato kugel was a huge hit. It is one of my favorite dishes that Marty makes. The meal was followed by fruit and chocolate fondue. I also made a pecan pie and a sugar free pecan pie.

And kudos to Sonny and Marty for being able to fit eight people in the space we had. And comfortably, I may add.

A special touch was the china service used was the wedding china from Marty's parents, whom I had the good fortune to know almost 50 years ago.

Since Fuzzy, Neva and I barely touched the turkey, I had to get busy utilizing the leftovers. After slicing and freezing most of it and making turkey stock with the bones I tried something new for me. I made six turkey pot pies and used my food saver to freeze them. I just have to take them out, and pop them in the oven.

This sight stopped me in my tracks down at Crandon Park Marina in Key Biscayne last week. It seems they were filming a music video or a commercial using cars mounted on jet skis. Not something you see everyday at work.

This is a picture I took on one of my twice weekly trips to Key Biscayne, in Miami.

This is what happens when a neutral line to the house breaks and sends 240 volts of electricity throughout the house. Luckily the only fire damage was to this surge protector. It also blew up 3 other surge protectors, my freezer and several light bulbs.

I snapped this pic of Skray at the vet. There is a video on my facebook page.

NOVEMBER 2015

I am a little late posting this month, because I wanted to make sure I got in some pictures from Halloween. This year I attended two functions. The first was the Halloween Party and Dance for our square dancing club. We had a really good time. Lot's of food and costumes. I entered both and won first place for the food and third place for my costume.

I made homemade candy and nuts. Regular and sugar free. Quite a few of us are of THAT age so the sugar free went over pretty well. I made chocolate covered cherries and candies with what I call 'fruit haze', just a little fruit jam in the centers. Vanilla candy with macadamia nuts and coconut. They went very fast. There were chocolate covered walnut and pecans, regular and sugar free. Also sugar free brownies with walnuts and sugar free chocolate chunks mixed in. The brownies were box. I called them tricked out brownies.

Now, about the costume... I realized that costumes cannot be subtle. They must stand out from a distance and be immediately recognizable for whatever they are.
The contest Host kept calling me 'Obama' which made no sense at all. The winners were Patty and Don, who deserved to win. They went as Nerds and were excellent.
I was trying to be a satirical version of a delegate to the Republican convention who could not decide who to vote for. The sign I was carrying had Trump on one side, when I spun it around it had Carson on the other. The mask was half Trump and half Carson and the vest was covered in stupid things both of the them have said in the past. I realized you should not have to explain your costume. Duh!

I had this sign on the back of my vest

Here is a picture of the group at the dance

I went to the Wilton Manors Halloween Festival this year. I don't usually like to do these things alone, but I had a really good time. The costumes were incredible. It felt like a movie set. I took a lot of pictures, it was at night but some came out pretty good.
I ran into Rev. Patrick from the United Church of Christ

I WAS SURPRISED THIS WAS THE ONLY CAITLYN

This little guy won best children costume.. sooo cute.

This little guy is Scrappy. I had pictures of him here before burying peanuts in the planter at Haulover Point Store in Miami.  He was there last week when I got there. The crows had discovered where he hid his peanuts on the window sill so he comes to the door and begs for more. Who can resist that face?

We are still experiencing full moon high tides at the marinas. While I was at Haulover Marine Center the tide came in while one of the marina cats, 'Obama', was napping. He was quite surprised to find he was on an island when he woke up. The store attendant gave him a helping hand.

Yes it appears Slider has lost his mind!!
